Improving the Lives of Patients Living with MS

Jefferson Health New Jersey is offering a new monthly wellness retreat that strives to enhance the quality of life for patients living with MS in Southern New Jersey. This FREE collaborative day of learning, relaxation and sharing will feature education modules and activities, including guest speakers, body & mind programs, and spa experiences. Food will be served, and each participant's caretaker is also invited to attend.

The wellness retreat is made possible by the Joseph A. Maressa Fund, through the Jefferson Health Foundation - New Jersey. To learn more about the Joseph A. Maressa Fundclick here.

The Inspiration Behind the Maressa Center

The Maressa family is no stranger to life with multiple sclerosis. In 1994, Julian Maressa, DO, received his diagnosis, which he kept to himself for many years.

Over the years, Julian, his brothers Joseph Maressa Jr. and Anthony, and his sister JoLynne, have learned how essential stress reduction is in managing the disease. Daily activities geared toward physical, emotional, and spiritual health can make a monumental difference.

With this in mind, Joseph – a member of the Jefferson Health New Jersey Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees – envisioned an innovative, comforting, and educational program in which anyone with MS, and their caretakers, could come and spend the day with people who walk similar paths in life.
