Medical Nutrition Therapy

Jefferson Health offers a comprehensive Nutritional Counseling program, which provides one-on-one consultation with a Registered Dietitian to children and adults in New Jersey who are either referred by their physician or taking steps on their own to improve their health.

Our staff provides support for:

Since each client’s health needs and concerns are different, Jefferson’s highly trained Registered Dietitians program provide an individual, highly personalized plan. Nutrition instruction and recommended lifestyle changes include:

  • Identification of Achievable Goals
  • Development of a Personalized Nutrition Plan

Individual Counseling for Weight Loss

Battling with weight loss can be a very difficult—and a personal-struggle. That's why we offer an alternative for those who have an immediate need for weight counseling assistance, but may not want to attend a group class. One-on-one counseling services at our Nutrition Center will put you in touch with a Registered Dietitian (RD) who can work with you individually to develop a nutrition plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. 

Diabetes Education

When you have diabetes, understanding what affects your blood sugars and how to appropriately manage them are key to your good health. The expert staff at our Nutrition and Diabetes Education Center offer both group classes and individual education sessions to help you do just that. Our program’s quality and success has been recognized and certified by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for over ten years.

Our staff provides support for:

  • Clients who may be newly diagnosed or struggling to reach their management goals
  • Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adult (LADA), Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY)
  • Pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Glucometer and injection therapy education
  • Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors 
  • Carbohydrate Counting and Meal Planning
Nutrition Counseling for Cancer Patients

A cancer diagnosis and its treatment can negatively affect your appetite. But  during this time, that it's more important than ever to eat the right kinds of foods to help keep you strong. Jefferson offers private counseling sessions with a Registered Dietitian to help cancer patients in New Jersey manage their nutritional needs.
