Program Overview

Jefferson Health - New Jersey Podiatry welcomes you to apply to our residency program. We are a team of hardworking and motivated residents and attendings working together to achieve academic excellence. If you join this program, you will be a part of one of the largest, most innovative healthcare systems in the Philadelphia Region. You will also  have the opportunity to work with other residents from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM), enriching the learning experience. 

We accept residents from all accredited schools!

Program Highlights: 

  • 36-month CPME accredited PMSR/RRA program approved for 3 residents/year.
  • Wide variety of didactic educational and professional experiences.
  • Rotations with multiple medical and surgical specialists.

Our teaching attendings: 

  • Full complement of podiatry teaching attendings with diversified experience, bringing both new ideas, as well as years of clinical experience to their teaching.
  • Attendings with expertise to include: rearfoot/ankle surgery, forefoot surgery, plastic techniques, arthroscopy, trauma, sports medicine, wound care, and charcot reconstruction with external fixation.
  • Resident input is welcomed and appreciated during surgical planning and execution.

Prime Location

Podiatric residents may practice at any of three hospital campuses and two surgical centers across South Jersey, offering a wide diversity of patient populations: 

Jefferson Cherry Hill and Jefferson Washington Township Hospitals are both currently undergoing extensive facilities enhancements, which include the addition of private rooms to improve the patient experience. Curriculum Details

1st Year: 

  • Podiatric Surgery WTD/CHD/STD (4 months)
  • Internal Medicine (1 month)
  • Infectious Disease (1 month)
  • Endocrinology (1 month)
  • General Surgery (1 month)
  • Orthopedic Surgery (1 month)
  • Wound Care (1 month)
  • Anesthesia/Radiology/Pathology (2 weeks each)
  • Podiatric Office (2 weeks)

*Cover all cases at your assigned location.

2nd Year:

  • Podiatric Surgery WTD/CHD/STD (6 months)
  • Emergency Medicine/Pediatrics (1 month)
  • Podiatric Office (2 months)
  • Vascular Surgery (1 month)
  • Gerontology (1 month)
  • Nephrology/WTD Backup(2 weeks each)

3rd Year: 

  • Podiatric Surgery WTD/CHD/STD (5 months)
  • Podiatric Office (4 months)
  • Elective of Choice (1 month)
  • Elective (1 month)
  • Behavioral Health (2 weeks)
  • PT (2 weeks)

Every Tuesday morning from 7-10am.

Call Schedule:

  • 1st years: ~22 weekend call days/year
  • 2nd years: ~14 weekend call days/year
  • 3rd years: no weekend call days
  • Weeknights are divided among all residents.

 

Salary & Benefits

  • We offer competitive salaries:
    • PGY-1: $53,300
    • PGY-2: $55,300
    • PGY-3: $56,600
  • Health benefits available, including health, dental, and vision.
  • Annual food allowance $1500 per year, educational funds $2000 per year for conferences, books, licensing fees, and boards (*with admin. approval).
  • 15 paid personal days/year, 4 additional days for attending conferences/year.
  • 4 lab coats.
  • Access to tbe Thomas Jefferson University library.
