Meet Dane Cohen, MD - Real Men Wear Pink 2021 Representative

October 5, 2021

It’s been two years since Jefferson Health – New Jersey was involved in the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign — but we’re back!

This year, Radiation Oncologist Dane Cohen, MD, is our representative in the Philadelphia regional campaign. So, don’t be surprised if you see him wearing a lot of pink during October — national Breast Cancer Awareness Month — to remind women to get their mammograms and raise money for breast cancer prevention and treatment.

In 2020, for the first time ever, female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide. Despite this, the death rate from breast cancer dropped by 41 percent from 1989 to 2018 because of earlier detection, as well as advances in treatments. Today, we celebrate the more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., both those who have completed treatment and those still undergoing treatment.

By tapping into the “power of pink,” Real Men Wear Pink has raised more than $40 million worldwide (and over $10 million in the U.S.) since its inception — funding a live 24/7 helpline for answers and support, breakthrough breast research, and much more.
