Jefferson Washington Township Hospital ICU Nurse Michaela Bailey Receives DAISY Award
Jefferson Washington Township Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse Michaela Bailey, RN, was recently honored with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. A seven-year employee of Jefferson Health, the Pennsauken resident (shown middle) was presented the award by ICU Nurse Manager Lorraine “Kim” Kulikowski, BSN, RN, CCRN (left), and Jefferson NJ Senior VP & Chief Nursing Officer Helene Burns, DNP, RN, NEA-BC. They praised Bailey for her hard work, kindness and compassion — and for taking care of patients as if they were a member of her own family.
Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues. DAISY Award winners are chosen following a review of nominations by Jefferson’s Clinical Recognition Committee in New Jersey. The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families.
