Jefferson Stratford Hospital Associates Give Back to 56 Children and Three Local Families

December 23, 2019

At Jefferson Stratford Hospital, giving back for the holidays is in full swing! Recently, staff members from various departments gathered gifts for 56 children and three families in need, provided by local schools and agencies. Among the donations were toys, clothing, household items, holiday meal baskets, and even two live Christmas trees (thanks to the Stratford Fire Department)!

Wendy Sutherland, Assistant to the VP, and Nichole Keane, Administrative Assistant, helped organize the donation. Employee Health, Nursing Administration, Case Management, Security, and Guest Services are just a few of the departments that contributed! It was truly a team effort that everyone enjoyed taking part in, says Sutherland.

“There are many ways our hospital can give back to the community, and this is one of them that represents the true meaning of the holidays,” said Sutherland. “Giving back to our community is more than providing medical care. It’s providing emotional support; helping others through life’s hardships; providing food or nourishment; and doing something that makes us feel good inside.”

Once the piles of gifts were collected and ready to be delivered, Sutherland says it was difficult to fight back the tears. “We are blown away and so grateful to everyone at Jefferson Stratford Hospital who helped make this holiday season brighter for these families. Thank you!”
