Jefferson Health - New Jersey Nurse Samantha Funk Receives DAISY Award

August 20, 2021

Jefferson Washington Township Hospital nurse Samantha Funk, RN, was recently honored with a Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses. A two-year employee of Jefferson Health, Gloucester City resident Funk, shown here, left, with Jefferson Health New Jersey VP & Chief Nursing Officer Helene Burns, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, was praised for her clinical expertise, compassionate care and high level of professionalism.

Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues. DAISY Award winners are chosen following a review of nominations by Jefferson’s Clinical Recognition Committee in New Jersey.

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families.
