Happy Retirement, Anne!
Retiring 41-year Operating Room Registered Nurse, Anne Chiefari, will never forget her last day of work.
Friday morning, Anne was surprised by co-workers midway through her daily “walk to work” with her husband, Tony. A local resident, Anne takes the 20-minute, 1.1-mile walk to Jefferson Washington Township Hospital each day she works, 4 days a week.
Anne, her husband, and her co-workers finished the walk together and made it to the hospital with plenty of time to spare! Their celebration for Anne will continue later on today with a luncheon.
Anne’s colleague, OR Technician Colleen Gurovich, says, “We are excited for this very emotional ‘send-off’ for our colleague. Anne has been a staple in the OR and an integral part of the staff for so many years. She has never forgotten a birthday, or missed a special occasion for her co-workers. We wanted to show her how much she means to us by taking the walk with her on her final day of work.”
Typically, Anne walks to work with her husband, except during inclement weather when he drives her. Anne has walked to work since 2002, on a day when her car was in the shop. When Anne realized the walk was only 1.1 miles, she decided to make this her regular exercise routine.
