Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation Donates $75,000 to Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Washington Township

December 5, 2019

On Wednesday, December 4, the Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation, one of Jefferson Health New Jersey’s key donors, donated $75,000 to the Patient Assistance Fund of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Washington Township. The Patient Assistance Fund provides support to assist with patients’ financial needs during treatment (i.e., housing, utility bills, transportation, etc.), as well as patient-focused programs at the Center for Hope & Healing.

Based in Bridgeton, NJ, the non-profit foundation upholds the annual tradition of making generous donations to local cancer care organizations. For the 4th year in a row, their contribution to Jefferson Health New Jersey was recognized at Bottino’s ShopRite in Vineland; funds raised came from the third annual Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation’s Golf Tournament and other philanthropic events.

Abigale S. Hassel, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, oncology social worker at SKCC-WT noted how impactful the donation is in lifting many of patients' financial burdens. "With the help of donations, we've been able to assist many patients with their rent, mortgage, grocery bills, and more. While we don't play a role in the physical healing, we have an opportunity to assist with the emotional healing, which is just as important. We are incredibly grateful that the Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation has helped us provide these services."
